Home Again is a wonderful story of adventure turned nightmare for an eleven year old boy, his dog Ring, and filly Honey Gal.
Dub’s camping trip on the Red River began as a wonderful adventure for an eleven year old boy. It quickly turned into a nightmare when he, his dog Ring, and filly Honey Gal are kidnapped and transported far from home.
After escaping, they are now being pursued by kidnappers as well as bounty hunters. Ring’s natural survival instincts as a wolf are invaluable in avoiding capture while making their way home across Texas to Louisiana. In unfamiliar territory, the trio work at whatever jobs are available. Sometime they work cattle on ranches for room and board until their identity is discovered. Occasionally, they have to flee without provisions and are forced to live off the land. While traveling, they encounter many good people and some not-so-good. On rare occasions, charity is shown |
toward the trio by some of the good ones. Those acts of kindness help Dub maintain his faith, and gives him the strength to finish the trip home. After six months of trial and endurance, Dub and his animals finally make it safely home to the Sabine River bottom.
